Nathan turned 6 years old on May 12th. No one gets more excited about birthdays than Nathan does! He knows when everyone's birthdays are and he counted down to his own for a long time. His special day finally arrived and it started off with balloons and breakfast in bed. He requested scrambled eggs which are his favorite food!
He then went downstairs to see his birthday decorations and open presents. Jon made most of the signs this year and he did a great job! The NWD stands for Nathan Warnick Draper, just in case you're wondering.
Nathan's big gift was roller blades, but he later told me that he was scared to ride them so we returned them. I was at Costco later that day and saw this awesome lemonade stand. Nathan is into making money right now and he loves doing a lemonade stand with the neighbors so I thought this was the perfect gift. He was really excited about it!
He decided he wanted to sell "candy" at his new stand!
Ms. Standley had been gone for a week doing jury duty and was supposed to be gone for Nathan's birthday. He was so sad about this, but thankfully the trial ended early and she made it back just in time for his big day! The class sang to him and then Ms. Standley turned him 6 times since he was turning 6. This was definitely one of the highlights of his day!

Nathan had a baseball game that afternoon, so the night before I stayed up making and frosting cupcakes to look like baseballs so he could pass them out to all of his teammates after the game. I had them in my new cupcake carrier up on the counter so they were all ready to go at game time. Earlier that day I was sitting in the family room feeding Maggie and I looked over in the kitchen to see what Max was doing and this is what I saw...
I literally started crying as there was no way to salvage any of them and all of my hardwork had gone to waste. Once I calmed down and stopped yelling at Max, we got in the car and drove to Cinnamon Productions where I had to buy new cupcakes since I didn't have time to make more. Here is Nathan passing out the store bought cupcakes to all of his teammates after the game. It all worked out in the end, but I was so frustrated at the time. I was especially mad that Max didn't even feel bad about it- he just wanted a cupcake! That little stinker!!!
That Saturday was Nathan's birthday party. This was our first time doing a party somewhere other than in our backyard and let me just say, it was the easiest party I've ever thrown! He decided he wanted to do it at his Tae Kwon Do center and Master Kang ran the whole party!
Max was so excited that he could be a part of it! He wore Nathan's uniform and had so much fun playing all of the games and finally being able to do Tae Kwon Do! He can't start taking the actual classes until he turns 4 in April.
After learning some new moves and playing games, the kids sat and ate pizza...

And then we sang to Nathan and he got to cut the cake with a real Samurai sword! All of his friends thought that this was really cool!
The party ended with opening presents and he got some really fun gifts! I am definitely a fan of doing parties away from home- it was worth every penny!
On Memorial Day Nathan and his friend, Caden, set up his new lemonade stand and sold lemonade, cookies and suckers. Business was a little slow, but in the end they each made a few dollars and were happy about how it went!
We then went out to my parent's to swim and have a barbecue and celebrate all of the May birthdays. This was Max's first time wearing this little floaty shirt I bought him and it was hilarious, but it actually floated him!
My dad got us tickets to the 'Gun Show'!!!

I think Nathan had a really fun birthday celebration and that it lived up to everything he had been looking forward to!
Six things that I love about Nathan...
1. Nathan is really cute! I love his blonde hair and blue eyes and his trendy little glasses. I think he's not going to have any trouble getting dates when he's older!
2. Nathan is really smart. It's fun to see how his mind works and how he's always trying to figure out how things work. He is a good reader and he can already add and subtract double digits and do simple multiplication. I love that he loves going to school and learning new things!
3. Nathan is my little helper. He is almost always willing to get me things when I ask and help me whenever I need it. It's nice to finally have a child that can actually help out!
4. Nathan has a good heart. He is starting to understand why Jacob acts the way he does and he is always protective of him and tries to help him out. He is really excited that he and Jake will have recess together next year so that they can play together!
5. Nathan is competitive. He loves to play games and play the Wii and he loves to win! While this can be frustrating at times when he gets mad about losing, I really think this is a good quality to have and if we can channel it in the right direction it will really help him throughout his life.
6. Nathan gets really excited about things! His teacher worked hard to help him be able to bring that excitement down when he needed to as he would get really excited about whatever they were doing in Kindergarten! He has a lot of energy and generally just loves life and whatever he is doing.
We love Nathan so much and love that he is part of our family!
