The Cabin, Part 2

Better 3 months late than never, right???

Wednesday at the cabin was spent getting ready for the Family Reunion kick off barbecue that was at our cabin that night. We had to cook, clean, bake and get everything set up. Around 6:00 all of our aunts, uncles and cousins started rolling in and it was so much fun to see everyone. I hadn't seen a lot of my cousins in a long time so it was fun to catch up.

Thursday we had breakfast at the Seamon's cabin and then spent the morning making crafts and playing games. The boys don't really know their second cousins so it was fun for them to get to know them better!



Thursday afternoon we took turns going golfing. It was actually Jake's birthday (more on that later) and so I took him with me. He was so good and loved hitting the ball around! Once we were done Jon met us there and he took Nathan with him and his group. Max is still too little to take out, but he really wanted to go!

Friday morning we had breakfast at the Warnick's cabin and then all went floating down the river together. This is only the Carl Warnick side of the family. There were 4 other major families there as well that we saw on Thursday night and Saturday morning. I'm proud to be a part of such a great legacy!

Friday night all of the first cousins went out to dinner. When we got home it was pouring rain so we let the kids all go out and play in it. Who doesn't like playing in the rain?!!

Funny story... when we got to the cabin we noticed this bird's nest nestled into the top of the front porch. All week long we were all very interested in watching the mother bird find food for her babies and watching them grow bigger everyday. On Wednesday one of the baby birds fell out of the nest and onto the dirt next to the porch. We were all standing around trying to figure out how to get the bird back into the nest when out of no where Max came running through the circle and kicked the bird. Everyone was mortified (especially the kids) as we watched the little bird flail for a little bit and then eventually stop moving. We waited a while to see if it would come around, but finally Jon had to 'relocate' it to the forest. The poor little bird never even saw Max coming. For the rest of the week Max walked around saying, "I kick bird. I kill bird." It was actually pretty funny!

On the way home we saw this rainbow going all the way across the sky. The kids were pretty excited about it!

And my favorite part of going on vacation... all of the laundry I get to do when we get home!

Cabin, Part 1

We finally made it to the cabin and no one was more excited than Jake! He talks about going to the cabin all year long and I'm pretty sure would love to live there if we would go for it. When we got there Wendy and her family were already there and Jake and Norah hit it off right away. They were pretty cute together. Later in the week she sort of shifted her attention toward Nathan and followed him around wherever he went!

Max found this mud puddle the next morning and was in heaven!

We spent a lot of time on the four-wheelers. The boys loved them, especially riding with Jon since he's a little crazier than I am!

That afternoon we all went horseback riding. All the cousins had to line up from tallest to shortest while they figured out what horse we would all be on.

Jake's favorite animal is the horse and so he was very excited about riding one.

He did awesome! He probably could have ridden by himself, but it made me too nervous! He talked to the horse and knew what to do with the reins and how to get the horse to do what he wanted. His horse's name was Big Al and now every horse he sees is Big Al!

Nathan also did awesome. He rode all by himself which I was worried about (and so was he at the beginning) but then he did great! His horse's name was Slinky which he thought was pretty funny!

I, on the other hand, was a mess. Anyone that knows me knows that after my near death horse experience several years ago, I really hate horseback riding. It makes me very nervous. But, I did it so that the boys could ride and I could be out there with them. Max loved it and said, "Giddy up, horsey" the whole time! Our horse's name was Paris since apparently if you look at her straight on she really looks like Paris Hilton!

The kids just loved hanging out at the cabin and playing in the dirt. It was a boy's dream come true!

Max loves hats and helmets and literally wore this helmet around most of the time. He's a funny kid! Maybe he just wanted protection from the big kids!

The next day we floated down Box Canyon. The water was really high so the rapids were a little bigger (still not much), but it made it fun for the kids. The only drawback was that it was really cold. Definitely didn't need our bathing suits for this one.

Later that night we went into West Yellowstone to the Playmill theater and saw Beauty and the Beast. I was worried that the boys wouldn't be able to sit there that long, but they loved it! It was such a cute play and kept their attention the whole time.

On Our Way...

Thankfully our big family vacation this year was in early July before I got morning sick so I was actually able to enjoy it! On our way up to my parent's cabin we made a few stops to try and break up the 16 hour drive. Our first stop was at Lake Mead. We waterskiied with Rob and Bethany and their kids and it was so much fun! It was the first time we've taken the boat out without my dad being there so I was a little nervous, but everything went really smoothly. The kids loved just swimming in the water and riding the tube.

We finally convinced Nathan to waterski and he did awesome- cast and all!

Jon and I got a few good runs in which just topped off a great day on the lake!

The next day we drove to Provo and stopped at BYU to walk around and go to the bookstore. You can never have too much BYU paraphernalia!

Our next stop was at the Alpine Slides in Park City. Jon and I went there last September and have been excited to take the kids there ever since. Unfortunately on our way up Nathan started throwing up. It was so sad for him and so annoying that we were headed up to the cabin and bringing the sickness with us. We decided to still go to Park City and see how he was feeling when we got there. Of course once Nathan saw the slides he wanted to ride them so being the responsible parents that we are we gave him a bag to put in his pocket and took him up the mountain! He was doing well, but his last trip up he threw up in the dirt walking over to the slide. He seemed fine after that and still went down the slide. He's crazy! Im glad we went though, all the kids had a good time.

The next day we stopped in Kaysville to visit Jon's Grandpa Ernie. It's always so fun to visit with him and he always has some yummy snack for us. This time it was a delicious watermelon- the kids' favorite!

And then it was on to the cabin...

Number Four

That's right, baby number four is on it's way. We are very excited! I'm 10 weeks and feeling horrible. Can't wait to get through the morning sickness and actually start feeling normal again. We should find out in a few weeks what we're having so that will be exciting! I'm due March 15, but the doctor already scheduled the c-section for March 3rd since I'm diabetic and they always deliver the baby early. This ultrasound was taken at 8 weeks so that's why it doesn't really look like a baby yet! The heartbeat looks good and there's only one baby- very reassuring! I'll keep everyone posted as soon as we find out if it's a boy or a girl!!!
