Valentine's Party 2009

We had our annual Valentine's party last night and it was so much fun! We decided to do it a week after Valentine's Day since a lot of our friends were out of town last weekend. The nice thing was that all of the Valentine's stuff was on sale this week- we may do it after Valentine's Day every year from now on! Everyone helped bring food and it was all really good. I did all of the desserts since I love baking and I don't love cooking! The dessert table was complete with red, pink and white heart shaped dipped pretzel sticks, peanut butter cup cookies with heart shaped Reese's in the middle, heart shaped caramel brownies, pink heart shaped Rice Krispy Treats and black bottom cupcakes with pink frosting.

We had to move our kitchen table out to fit everyone in, but I think it turned out okay. We played a love songs game where everyone had to guess the title and artist of different love songs. We then played the Not So Newlywed Game and it was hilarious! Hopefully no one went home mad at their spouse after the game! Some of the answers were pretty funny!

Happy Valentine's Day!

We had fun celebrating Valentine's Day this year. Nathan was pretty excited about all of the candy and cards he got at his preschool party. Unfortunately, Jake got strep throat and had to miss his party. I'm sure he'll be pretty excited when he gets his Valentine's on Tuesday when he goes back to school!

The boys received so many fun Valentine's from family and friends this year. Aunt Heidi and Aunt Annie sent Valentine cards and sugar cookies complete with a can of frosting and sprinkles so the boys could decorate them. It's a tradition in our family to decorate sugar cookies for every holiday so it was nice to not have to make the cookies this year. Thanks Annie and Heidi!

On Valentine's Day the Valentine Fairy visited the boys rooms and left presents on their pillows. Jake got animals and candy and Nathan got a new game and candy. Max just got a box of candy to shake- he's pretty easy to please!

That night Jon and I went out. Jon planned the whole night and it was so fun. We started out going to to new little Italian restaurant that Jon found. It was so good- we'll definitely be going back there. During dinner Jon kept handing me little gifts. He gave me a homemade card, a box of my favorite Rocky Mountain mint chocolates, a Golden Spoon t-shirt (LOVE IT!) and a poem with a $100 bill in it. The poem said that I had to spend the money on myself that night and that whatever was left over I had to give back so I better spend it all! Jon even said that he would act excited about whatever I was looking at or trying on and that he wouldn't complain at all! It was so cute of him, but I was feeling bad that Valentine's Day was supposed to be fun for both of us. So I gave him the option of going shopping or watching a movie about shopping! He chose the movie so we went and saw Confessions of a Shopaholic- it was really cute. Thanks, Jon for sitting through that with me! We ended the date off with a trip to Target which is always a treat when I don't have the kids with me. It was such a fun date and if you're wondering, I still have the $100 bill in my wallet! Don't worry, I'll be using it on diapers, wet wipes and formula at Costco tomorrow!

Odometer Excitement

It's a tradition in Jon's family to get really excited about number patterns on things like clocks, dates and car odometers. When Jon was about 15 and vacationing in Illinois he remembers pulling off the side of the road and celebrating the fact that their odometer had hit 100,000 miles. They would celebrate at 4:56 on January 2, 2003 since it would be 01/02/03/04/05/06- you get the point.

So Jon was really excited when he noticed that his odometer was nearing one of these number patterns. He took pictures in anticipation of the big event and as soon as it happened he pulled over, took a picture and then called me to give me the big news! It doesn't take much to get him excited!!!

It's Official!

We are now the proud owners of a dental practice!!! To celebrate the big day we made signs and hung them all over the house and sang "For He's a Jolly Good Fellow" when Jon walked in the door from work. Christy's kids were here so they helped make signs and joined in on the celebration! The practice is in San Clemente and so if you're willing to drive down there Jon would love to treat you! We are so grateful that everything worked out and are excited for the adventure ahead of us!

Family Pictures

Everyone in my family was down for Christmas this year so we decided to take an updated family picture. I added some random pictures that I took while we were waiting for everyone to have their individual family pics taken. I still haven't taken the time to learn how to actually use my camera so the lighting isn't the best, but I think there are still some fun shots. Our best family picture is the one at the top of the blog so I didn't include it again in this post.

My Grandma Mary came down to visit for the month of December. It was so fun to have her down and get to spend so much time with her. We miss you, Grandma!

Warnick Idol

In celebration of American Idol starting a new season every year we have our own Warnick Idol party! This was the 4th year we have done it and I must say that Jon and I are getting better and better every year (of course, this isn't saying much)! Here's a recap of the evening...

Nathan and the girls started the night off with a song from Dora.

Jake decided he wanted in on the action and they all busted out their best dance moves!

Jake and Nathan then performed the Alphabet Song and Itsy Bitsy Spider.

Carli did a great job singing a song from High School Musical 3.

Christy's daughters, Samantha and Hadley, did a duet number with choreographed dance moves.

They were followed by a duet from Holly's daughters, Cortney and Brynn, who sang a song from Mulan.

Wendy was feeling a little under the weather so her husband, Derek, performed by himself- what a trooper!

Becky and Zac rocked out to "Jesse's Girl".

Rob and Bethany sang a song about Obama that Rob made up- again!

Christy and Adam sang "Chick Magnet" while holding Will and having their 5 daughters act like crazed fans trying to get their hands on their favorite star!

Holly and Brodie sang "The Sun'll Come Out Tomorrow" from the movie Annie. It was pretty hilarious!

And finally Jon and I sang John Michael Montgomery's "Auction" song. We didn't have any time to practice so I thought this would be an easy song since we always sing it on road trips and we know all of the words. Right at the last second Jon came up with the idea of trading places and having me be the man and him being the "lady in the long black dress with the ruby red lips, blonde hair, blue eyes..." Jon totally hammed it up and it was hilarious!

I'm proud to say that we tied with Holly and Brodie for 1st place and went home with $20! Way to go Jon for pulling through for us! You make one hot woman! Actually, some of the little girls were saying that they were going to have nightmares that night after seeing Jon in that outfit!!!
