By October I was feeling a lot better and starting to get some energy back so what better way to celebrate than by leaving the kids home with Grandma and Grandpa Draper and going to Seattle to visit our good friends, Catherine and Justin! Catherine and I were college roommates at BYU and have stayed good friends throughout the years. Justin is a dentist so right there he and Jon have hours and hours of things to talk about! They are such fun people to be around and we wish we lived closer so we could hang out more.
We stayed at their house in Burlington, WA, which is about an hour north of Seattle. They have 5 kids- 4 boys and a girl- so Catherine completely understands my excitement about finally getting a girl. Her daughter is the 4th, exactly how ours will be. (Catherine then had another boy about 16 months later, which we will not be doing since we are done after this one!) We did lots of shopping for girl stuff which was so fun since her daughter, Edie, has to be the best dressed little girl I've ever seen!
The first day we drove to Deception Pass and walked across this huge bridge over looking the ocean. It was beautiful.
We hiked down this path that led to the water and let the kids play while we sat and took in the scenery. We saw several seals swim by which was so cool!
On Friday we drove down to Seattle and Catherine and Justin showed us all of the sites of the big city. We drove around UW, did some shopping and then ate lunch at this little hot dog stand that was so delicious!
After we had walked around enough we drove to the 'Troll Under the Bridge' which is this huge statue that someone sculpted under a bridge! We had no idea what to expect, but we were very impressed when we saw it- so random and fun!
We walked up to the top of the bridge and took pictures looking over downtown Seattle. (Isn't their baby beautiful?!!)
We ate dinner at this really good seafood restaurant and then drove back home and called it a day.
Saturday morning Justin let us borrow his car and Jon and I drove up to Vancouver. Neither of us had ever been to Canada and while the drive was beautiful, the city was really no different than any big American city.
We walked around this Chinese botanical garden which was way over priced, but still cool to see.
We then went to another farmer's market which was fun to walk around and sample all of the random foods. We drove around the city a little more and then headed back to Catherine and Justin's. We took the scenic drive home along the coast and it was so pretty. Washington really is a beautiful state!
That night Catherine and I did a little more shopping and some crafts (basically I watched Catherine while she made stuff for me!) and just hung out and talked. Sunday morning we got up early and flew back home in time for church since I had the Primary Program practice that day that I couldn't miss. We had such a fun, relaxing time and we are so grateful to Catherine and Justin and their kids for being such great hosts! We definitely plan on visiting again. And thanks to Jon's parents for watching our kids for us while we were gone. They had a great time and were sad to see them go!

What a fun trip. Washington is one of the places on my list of places to go someday. How fun to have friends in cool places! ;)
You're baaack! Next time you're in Seattle you MUST let us know, k! Looking forward to reading more of what happened during the last months. Hope all is well for you and your baby girl -and the boys, of course!
COME BACK!!! we had so much fun! my boys still talk about how they were sure that uncle jon will have to leave his cell phone next time because he won't be able to find the ctr ring in the friend!
the pictures look awesome...and i won't even comment on how lovely my baby weight looks still on me.
a couple more weeks and we can go shopping again together for maggie!!! (oh and edith of course) :)
